This page will concentrate on smelling salts, lavender salts and crystals we collect.
The purpose of this site is to show other interested collectors our collection and
to record and catalog each. Also, it will help us when searching
for like items for our collection (ie. - color, sizes, etc.).
A blue/green (teal) salts bottle embossed STANLEY'S LAVENDER SALTS
with WCo. monogram centered. Label reads: Stanley's Inexhaustible
Lavender Smelling Salts, The S.H. Wetmore Co. N.Y.
It has a ground throat for a glass stopper (missing).
Height, 2 - 5/16 in. Width, 1 - 3/4 in.
A teal, what we believe is a salts bottle embossed
LADY GREY / PERF'Y CO. / BOSTON, MASS.
Stoppers for these are usually found in clear/amethyst, as shown.
Height, 2 - 5/8 in. not including the stopper.
A teal salts embossed LUSCOMB'S / WITCH / LIQUID / SMELLING SALTS.
It has SALEM WITCH and a witch with broom (also on
both sides of stopper) 1692 on the reverse.
Height w/out stopper, 2 - 1/4 in. Width, 1 - 5/8 in.
A yellow green 12 sided salts embossed GEORGE / LORENZ.
It has three labels. The first reads: Inexhaustible Lavender Salts for Faintness
Head-Ache Hysteria & O. George Lorenz Perfumer. Stamp like label states:
George Lorenz Paris 1900 Highest Award at Five World's Fairs. Neck label:
U.S. Serial No. 2679. Guarenteed under the Food & Drugs ACT, June 30, 1906.
It still contains most of it's contents.
Height w/out stopper, 2 - 1/2 in. Width, 1 - 3/4 in.
A light yellow green cylinder shaped bottle embossed: RICHARD HUDNUT /
(Fleur de lis) CHEMIST (Fleur de lis) / NEW YORK. Stopper: HUDNUTINE in an arc over a H.
Label reads as shown in picture. It still contains it's contents, is sealed with wax and has
a green string at stopper. The base has a golden label with trade mark name
and large bird. Height w/out stopper, 2 - 3/4 in. Width, 2 in.
A green eight sided cylinder salts bottle embossed CORALENE CO. / BOSTON in script.
Four sides have an indented oval area for a label space. Inside the silver colored
top is a tiny ground glass stopper. Length, 4 - 3/16 in. Width, 15/16 in.
A teal eight sided cylinder salts bottle embossed X. BAZIN in an oval over LAVENDER SALTS
over NEW YORK in script. The edges are beaded and the top is embossed with a crest as
shown below. Inside the silver colored top is a tiny ground glass stopper.
Length, 4 - 1/8 in. Width, 15/16 in.
Two Colgate salts bottles - First, a yellow green embossed lightly
in a circle is 'C & Co.' Right, is a dark emerald green that is
base embossed: COLGATE & CO. over 27 over NEW YORK.
Heights w/out stoppers, 2 - 3/4 in. and 3 in.
A rich emerald green A.A. VANTINE & CO. It has a ground
throat to accept a stopper (missing). Height, 3 - 5/8 in. Width, 1 - 3/4 in.
A VAIL BROS. (VB monogram + on stopper too) PHILADA, PA U.S.A. with crystals inside,
then a SELICK // NEW YORK // PERFUMER on three sides with incorrect stopper and lastly
a HARMONY OF BOSTON. Heights w/out stoppers, 2 - 3/4 in., 2 - 3/4 in., 2 - 7/8 in.
A group photo of some CROWN PERFUMERY COMPANY bottles. Many of these can be considered salts,
with the exception of the taller examples on the far right. From the left: A round light yellow green
'Lavender Salts' (on label) with it's 'kid purse', a rectangular darker green with pungent salts still inside,
an unusual colorless variant, a small green cylinder with a TUMS label on it's back (dual uses?), then a
larger (dug by author) followed by a smaller and taller product bottle. These may have contained
toilet water, cologne or any type of cosmetic.
Heights w/out stoppers, 2 - 1/8 in., 2 - 9/16 in., 2 - 7/8 in., 2 - 1/2 in., 5 in., 3 - 7/16 in.
A much larger than normal CROWN PERFUMERY COMPANY bottle.
You can't tell from this picture, but it has a serious lean to the left.
Without the stopper, it's 3 - 1/2 in. tall X 2 - 1/2 in." wide.

Ad for THE CROWN PERFUMERY CO. - KARILPA Toilet-Water.
A dark emerald green GARWOOD, a tall medium yellow green hexagon shaped
label only salts with ground stopper and screw top closure, and then a dark
amethyst beauty (ground stopper) with a gold foil label with flowers that
reads: Smelling Salts, Richard Hudnut, New York - Paris. Heights w/out
stoppers, 3 in., 4 - 3/16 in. (including top), 2 - 3/4 in.
A dark rich green THE IMPERIAL / EAU DE COLOGNE Co Ltd / LONDON with ground
throat and base embossed with a fancy R.K. It has not been verified yet as a salts
bottle, but it has everything pointing in that direction. Next, not a salts bottle, but
included in the picture for company comparison... PALMER embossed and crown lid:
SOLON PALMER N.Y. Far right... a green 'Lavender Salts' embossed PALMER on one
side and full label on the other as shown. A script 'P' is on both sides of the
stopper. Heights w/out stoppers, 2 - 1/2 in., 4 - 1/2 in., 3 in.
Three LAZELL'S bottles in various shades of teal. Two salts bottles embossed
the same, flanking a toilet water. The left one has more of a shoulder to it and an
embossed (script monogram on top) ground stopper. The middle bottle is embossed
on the opposite side: LAZELL'S / NEW YORK / PERFUMES. It has two black and silver
labels. One states: Violet Toilet Water... and the other mentions: ...Lazell, Dalley &
Co. We're not sure if the fancy stopper is original, but it looks great. The far right
variant has a crude lip and the shoulder is at a sharper angle.
Heights w/out stoppers, 2 - 3/4 in., 4 - 3/4 in., 2 - 1/2 in.
Three examples of other forms of salts. The first is a colorless bottle with
a stopper and label that reads: Refreshing, No. 4711, Reg. U.S. Pat. Off.,
MIGNON SALTS, Made in U.S.A. The next is yellow green with a stopper
and contents inside. There is a destroyed partial label on the other side.
The far right is a bulbous teal bottle, that was probably used for some
sort of salts or scent. It has a ground throat to accept a stopper.
Heights w/out stoppers, 1 - 3/8 in., 2 - 1/8 in., 1 - 3/4 in.
A gradient yellow green McCORMICK & CO. BALTO salts bottle with
ground throat. We've seen a lot of different stoppers for these, so it's hard to tell
which is original. Years ago, these were once confused as poison bottles.
We have seen a labeled variant stating that these were used for smelling salts.
It is 2 in. long by 1 - 3/8 in. wide.
A pair of LUSCOMB'S LAVENDER SALTS...
a darker and a lighter teal green variant.
Both are 2 - 1/2 in. long with the stopper.
A teal green, yet unembossed variant, the same size and
form of a LUSCOMB'S LAVENDER SALTS (above) and still
filled with salts. It may have been a label only salts.
It is also 2 - 1/2 in. long with the stopper.
A beautiful green round ROTHPLETZ & SCHIPPER NEW YORK around R&S.
The reverse has 60% of a label that states... smelling salts.
It is 2 - 1/8 in. long minus the crown stopper.
We're not sure if the stopper is original, but the bottle's throat is ground.

Blue La Valliere Co. Lavender Salts from New Orleans.
It has two labels. The largest: Refreshing and Invigorating -
Relieves Headache, Sea-sickness and Car Sickness. To Purify the
air in Sickrooms and where Gentlemen Smoke, leave out the
stopper for a few minutes. (3 3/4 in. with stopper)
A tapered square green label only, Lavender Smelling Salts
Larkin Co. Buffalo with flowers pictured. (3 - 1/8 in. with stopper)
A six sided small green labeled and embossed Ricksecker's Reviving Salts.
The tiny stopper is embossed with an 'R' too! (3 - 7/8 in. with stopper)
A teal green FINLEY ACKER & CO. (embossed on stopper top only)

A fancy teal HEFFRON-TANNER CO. / PURITY / SYRACUSE, N.Y.
These are a bit hard-to-find with the stopper. (4 - 3/8 in. with stopper)

Notice the spelling of Pittsburgh. A previously unknown and recently
discovered salts bottle. (3 - 1/4 in. tall without the stopper)

Another previously unknown and recently discovered
salts bottle. (3 in. tall without the stopper)
AROMATIC / SPIRITS OF / AMMONIA
Light amber with silver (zinc ?) corked lined screw cap,
and interior ground matching amber stopper.
Unknown origin (4 in. tall with lid)
EVANS & C.F. BOOTH / NEW YORK
Both in script and teal, unconfirmed salts... yet.
They also have inside ground throats for glass stoppers. (3 1/8 in. and 3 in. tall)
